University of Oklahoma international excellence scholarship

The University of Oklahoma is giving out scholarships awards to international students based on their completed application for admission into the university and qualified SAT or ACT exam scores.

This 4-year tuition fee award is offered to all international as well as USA students who have undertaken an undergraduate degree study at the University of Oklahoma. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 to be eligible for the award worth $16,000.

The University of Oklahoma is a public research university in Norman, Oklahoma. Founded in 1890, it had existed in Oklahoma Territory near Indian Territory for 17 years before the two became the state of Oklahoma. In Fall 2018 the university had 31,702 students enrolled, most at its main campus in Norman.

The benefits of the University of Oklahoma scholarship

The University of Oklahoma is committed to making a world-class education attainable.  OU offers a variety of scholarships for admitted incoming freshmen.

You must apply before December 15 to receive consideration. No additional application is required for OU’s merit-based awards. This list represents some of the general, university-centralized freshman scholarships for fall 2022, but is not all-inclusive.

A student will be offered the highest tuition waiver based on their qualifications. Students cannot receive more than one merit-based award.

The University will provide the successfully selected applicants $16,000 in 4 installments of $4,000 per year for 4 years towards the tuition fee of the undertaken program.

Interested applicants must take admission in an undergraduate degree program at the university.

After that, to be considered for the grant, they must take the SAT and/or ACT exam and send updated, official exam results to the Office of International Admissions & Recruitment.

This grant is allotted base on the score of the applicant in Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Test (ACT) scores.

For example:

Award of Excellence $16,000
($4,000 x 4 years).
31 ACT or 1390 SAT (or greater)

Distinguished Scholar
$12,000 ($3,000 x 4 years) And so on.

These grants come into effect so Lang as you’re qualified and meet the criteria for these awards.

The application for this scholarship awards closes by 15th December 2023

Eligibility for this award

  • Eligible Countries: US citizens and nationals of any other international country are eligible to apply.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Resident undergraduate degree program offered at OU is eligible to apply for.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the given criteria: The applicants must rank in the top 10% of their class.

Procedures to apply for the University of Oklahoma scholarship awards

  • Students can apply to the university through the official university portal, Common Application, or Coalition Application. The students will automatically be considered for the award upon applying.
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Letter of recommendation
  • Official high school transcript
  • Essay
  • Admission Requirements: Applicants are required to have attained an ACCT score or 31 or SAT score of 1390 or greater with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Language Requirement: The students must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:
    TOEFL PBT ( Test of English Language paper-based test)  – 500
    TOEFL IBT ( Test of English Language internet-based test) – 61
    IELTS (International English Language Testing System) – 6.0
